Out of Control
Long here folks. Hang with me. Last week’s NewSong Easter Celebration was just that… a party! But for Captured (NS’s band) it didn’t feel that way at first as we struggled through our sound checks and warm-up that morning. The House PA and stage monitors were messed up big time. As a result the sound crew was stressed setting off a chain reaction that ultimately hit the band. Our response? Worship. We went backstage… and simply worshipped God. We surrendered our will and worry to His care and concern. A small group of musicians and techs ignored the sound gremlins and gave their 100% attention to Jesus. The result? More worship and a blessed people. God was near, the gremlins spooked and the house rocked. The same thing happened again yesterday. THE SAME THING. Yeah, we have system issues to work out. But turning the control over to God is the lesson. These last two weeks are only a microsm of life’s bigger struggles. Whether its technical problems in worship, financial pressures, a jerk boss, a relationship gone wrong, a sick loved one or even a tragic situation like Virginia Tech. God is in control. I have found when I try to muscle my way through a storm, I fail. I might win an occassional temporary victory on my own. But ultimately I fail because I condition myself to go it alone. The big, bad set-up Satan loves. God is good. He is faithful. His love endures forever. God shapes us in the storm. No matter the storm, run to Jesus. Rom. 5 – TeleDan

Great post my brother, wish I had been there last Sunday. God has a way of taking us from where we are and putting us where we need to be! His love and grace are what we need to seek. Your example of taking the time to worship the Father instead of chasing the gremlins is in perfect harmony with the teachings of Jesus. “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matt. 6:33 NIV)! May the God of creation be praised today. B4T

Brother Pudgeman. Matthew 6:33 is one of my favorites because it has provided THE context for my life. Its funny how a memory verse learned in first or second grade comes back years later to change my life. Great encouragement this AM. BXB. TD out!

Man you are soooooo right about it, I know this past Sunday I got very little from the monitors and couldn’t hear any of the other instruments like I wanted. my confidence level dropped hard between practice that morning and worship, but after we prayed and took the stage it all went away.
I think that like you say, just turn it over to God and let the Holy Spirit lead us, and remembering that it’s not about us, or what we can or can’t do, but about Worship.

Hey Dan just so you know the Superman link on your blog isn’t mine. The link to my blog is http://www.superman1224.wordpress.com. Take care buddy.

That’s my bad… I forgot the 1224 part when I set it up. Dano, you think you can adjust that? All you have to do is add 1224 after the word Superman and before the first dot.

Awesome new word for technical snafus: gremlins. Loved the movie and hated the creatures! Thanks for that. Reminded me of some of the gremlins I’ve run into the past 2 weeks and an idea of a new post!
