Rockin’ people’s lives for eternity

Officially Official

Well, most of you in NewSong land have probably already heard the news about the big move (again!). It looks real this time. Last week my position with the hospitals was eliminated and yesterday was my last official day. I lost my educator position in 2001 too, but God had a back-up plan then that kept me with the organization. No back-up this time. This was my twentieth year and I just found out that twenty years gets you a pretty nice severance package. Remember the “Georgia On My Mind” post a few weeks ago? Yep, I was interviewing for a great job right there in Susan’s home town of Gainesville during that time. We had not planned it. Susan had booked the plane tickets and the next morning I received a contact on the job. Things started happening from there. The current plan is for me to leave for Georgia the first week of June. Susan and the boys will be down July 1st. This is our current plan. God could change things in an instant but I feel He is leading this. Stay tuned. For you NewSong crazies… you will always be family to Susan and I.

  1. I know I will probably be chastized for this but oh well, That is awesome man isn’t it a relief to know that you have a job I am happy for you. I have had a little bit of experience with the Job Elimination thing lately. And I went alittle bit longer then a week without a job, but I know that you have to be feeling good. So with that nice severance you can buy something nice for the Wife and Kids and maybe even treat yourself to a nice guitar… but the rest needs to go into a visit Michigan Fund..

  2. That is true, Pete, that severance could provide for a lot of trips back home for weekends. I hear the deer in Georgia are kinda scrawny compared to them “up nort” deer though. And they don’t even have a city named Escanaba. But you won’t be far from Athens, or Toccoa or the Cabbage Patch Kids either. Seriously, it is very hard to imagine what life will be like here without you. I have lived in Georgia twice before, and I can tell you twice was enough for me! When we lived in Duluth, Georgia, my job was eliminated and that is what brought us here to Tecumseh and eventually to NewSong God is in control and He has a great plan for you and your family.

  3. Thank you for the truly God-inspired leading you have done at Newsong. The place won’t be the same w/o you. I know that God speaks to you, and you must follow his lead, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t sadness on my part.

  4. What an awesome testimony! God is so good and faithful. Perhaps its time for Superman to step up to the mike, We still have Jeff, Chris, Jill Kevin, and Cami they are all good too. Jackie and I have discussed retiring to E. Tennessee somewhere near the Smoky Mt’s. But we’ll cross that path when we come to it. May the Lord lead. \o/

  5. We have made several friends at Newsong and chances are we will stay here, mabe reside in Tennessee for the winter months. \o/

  6. Alright I’ll be the first to say it. NO! Alright now that I said it I will just say that I know how you have struggled so many times about moving to Georgia and with what I understand you now have a clear directive from God. I will miss you greatly but I know that you are in the Father’s will. B4T my friend and my brother.

  7. I’m with Doug. I’m sad for me but happy for you. Happy that things worked out. I just wish they could have worked out here. You will indeed be missed!!

  8. You are a insparation to many Danny god bless your family in this time and I pray that you keep up all your works that you have done. I know one thing it will be very hard not having you in the church every week but I will miss your family deeply love Your brother in christ EK.

  9. Pete – I love it. The new guitar thing, I mean. As far as the new job, it hasn’t happened yet and I am beginning to think they have tossed me out. I think you might see me around more than you think. We’ll see.
